The Rose and Crown Hotel is a 14th-century posting house, lovingly restored over the centuries to a modern-day hotel. It is located within walking distance of Colchester town centre and accessible to the historic sights of East Anglia.
Imagine sleeping in a 14th-century room, with all the amenities of the modern day. Choose from either the historic oakbeamed rooms located in the original house or the more contemporary rooms in the new wing. All rooms are en-suite and have hospitality trays, direct dial telephone and a new entertainment system which allows users to email, surf the web, play games, order movies and listen to music. The rooms also come equipped with hairdryer and a dry-cleaning service is also available. All 38 rooms have internet access via data port(21 rooms) or Wi Fi (29 rooms) with public and meeting areas having wi fi accessability. Newly built: 9 executive rooms with air con, plasma TV & safe's.

The newly refurbished restaurant, The East St. Grill features casual dining in a contemporary setting and is becoming a favourite with locals and guests for it's relaxed atmosphere and combination of great food and service. Menu prices for dinner range from 9.00 - 16.00 and lunch 5.00 - 10.00. The restaurant is non-smoking for your enjoyment.
From London: Take junction 28 off the m25 onto the a12 (e). Then take the Colchester Central exit onto the a133. Straight over the next two roundabouts leading onto Cowdray Avenue. At the double roundabout take a right at the first roundabout and then straight across at the second roundabout. The entrance to the hotel is a few hundred metres down on the left. From Ipswich: From a12 take exit for Colchester North onto a1232; follow the Ipswich road for approximately 2 - 3 miles, until you approach a double roundabout. Straight over both roundabouts following the Ipswich road. The entrance to the hotel is a few hundred meters down on the left. By rail: Just a 3/4 hr ride by intercity train from London's Liverpool Street Station. Colchester is well served by two local railway stations: Colchester Town (St. Botolphs) and Colchester North. By air: Stansted International Airport, off the a12, is approximately 40 miles away.
